The heart of Emmaus for the world
The long history of service
The strategic location of this beautiful place
For over forty years, Emmaus has served as a refuge for suffering humanity. From around the world, they have come ~ the poor, the homeless, troubled teenage girls, released prisoners, single mothers with children, the mentally ill, pregnant women and homeless families. Emmaus was for them, "home", a place of healing for broken hearts and minds. At Emmaus, they found hope and the way to a new beginning.
Through the years, Emmaus has joined the cause of the hour, the plight of people of colour, of the unborn and their mothers, of the poor and of the homeless. Today our world is overshadowed with darkness and violence. Surely, the cause of this hour is peace. Emmaus now turns its focus to the plight of our returning troops and to the development of programs that will help them find healing and vision for the future.
THE MISSION OF EMMAUS IS:
- the reclaiming and preservation of Emmaus farmland - the restoration of existing buildings to be used as a retreat center for veterans - the construction of a future center for peace
combine to create a sure foundation
for the future vision
